Happy Fourth of July for those of you in the United States. A great Wednesday for the rest of you.

If you haven’t already entered my contest, put on your thinking caps and tune into your imagination and come up a good idea for a villain and/or victim. Some interesting entries have already been turned in. You have until August 1 to join in.

Since my last post, I’ve had two fun book events. One was a signing at the Ventura (CA) Barnes and Noble. We stayed at a wonderful Bed and Breakfast, Bella Magiorre, that has a haunted room. If we’d known that before, that would have been our choice. It certainly couldn’t have been any noisier than the room we were in–we could look out at the parking lot and the first night we were there a fight with lots of yelling and screaming went on at 1 a.m., at 2 a.m. the police came and arrested a drunk and his car was towed. The second night we didn’t hear anything, too tired I suspect.

Our tiny town located in the foothills decided to have a Village Market. I paid for a space and joined folks selling fresh fruits and vegetables, jams and jellies, and lots of crafts. The event was only in the a.m. but I managed to sell lots of books. So, you never know.

We thought we’d have houseguests for awhile. Friends and fellow church members sold their house and hadn’t found another yet. The family consists of husband and wife, son, and daughter with a baby and three cats. (They also have two dogs, but they’ll have to go elsewhere because they’d just be a tasty snack for our dogs.) We have three cats too. Fortunately, we have lots of extra bedrooms and three bathrooms. (We were a licensed care home for developmentally disabled women for over twenty years.) As it turned out, they found a new home yesterday, hubby helped them move. Though I should have been relieved, I was disappointed. I thought we’d have a houseful for the Fourth. Had the menu all planned. Well, I’m going ahead with it anyway–son and daughter-in-law will join us.

For those of you who are writers, there is a wonderful writing conference coming September 14 and 15 in Tampa FL put on by the Wizards of Words. There is something for everyone. Check out the website:

Yours truly will be one of the presenters. Hope to see some of you there.
